NUTRITION ISSUES IN GASTROENTEROLOGY, #150
Pancreatic Resection: Nutritional Implications and Long Term Follow UpPancreatic resection operations contribute significantly to both macro-nutrient and micro-nutrient malabsorption. Patients suffer both short term and long term deficiencies and are prone to other gastro-intestinal conditions with similar symptoms. Identifying the cause of their symptoms is challenging and requires careful follow up in a multi- professional setting. This paper discusses these issues and the importance of patient access to specialist dietetic support and routinely assessing endocrine function following all pancreatic resection.

Genetics, Immunode ciency, and Very Early Onset In ammatory Bowel Disease
In ammatory bowel disease (IBD) has a genetic component associated with its pathogenesis; however, the effect of genetics in children with IBD younger than 5 years of age (also known as very early onset IBD or VEO-IBD) is unclear. The authors of this study evaluated for the presence of genetic variants of immune de ciency in patients with VEO-IBD.
