Pancreatic Resection: Nutritional Implications and Long Term Follow UpPancreatic resection operations contribute significantly to both macro-nutrient and micro-nutrient malabsorption. Patients suffer both short term and long term deficiencies and are prone to other gastro-intestinal conditions with similar symptoms. Identifying the cause of their symptoms is challenging and requires careful follow up in a multi- professional setting. This paper discusses these issues and the importance of patient access to specialist dietetic support and routinely assessing endocrine function following all pancreatic resection.
